Okay so here's the deal, I like to write poetry. (Possibly this could be why I am in creative writing! Gasp! Who would have ever thought?) Anyway, I wrote this poem the other day, and I was just wondering how people would respond to it. So give me all your creative criticism, but please dont laugh. (Well, on the inside's okay.)

Diversity and Interde-what?
Today in Enligh 2, our assignment was to write a paper on diversity and interdependence, implementing a speech written by Martin Luther King Jr., and a song by U2. A bunch of people around me were all flustered, wondering what to write, and just what the heck interdependence meant. I was struggling a little too (although a course of civics told me exactly what interdependence was). It was hard to concentrate and connect everything with the speech and the song, but eventually I managed to squeeze a few words out. (I'll find out later if it was up to Mrs. D's standards.). Anyway, I was thinking about it earlier, and while we do need to rely on others, we shouldn't care so much what other people think of us. I mean of course we shouldn't go walking around with dirty clothes and green junk stuck in our teeth, because come on people, that's just nasty no matter who you are. But, if we worry too much about what other people think, we'll never become our own person. It's like we'll just be puppets of society. (Ooh, I'm getting phylosophical here!) The point is, we should be able to rely on our friends and family to be there for us, but not to judge us in unfair ways.
Whew...that was heavy stuff. On to a lighter note...ITS ALMOST FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!! Ok well technically it's wednesday, but friday is right around the corner. It'll be here before i know it....I hope. :/
PEACE

Favorite Person Snapshot (Creative Writing)
Wind wipped through my hair, tossing it in all sorts of helter-skelter directions. I drug my feet leasurely across the mulch, diggin brown colored muck up from the forgotten ground below. My grandmother sat opposite me, barely holding on to the metal bench, paint chipped and diseases with the smell of rust. It was so prominent I tasted it on the roof of my mouth. But she made that bench beautiful, adding the sight of her never-graying curls, and wrinkled, sun-dyed skin. Her legs were crossed at the knee, and her head was high in confidence. She could have sat there ruling the world without ever having to lift a finger. She spoke of something that I've long forgotten, her voice dampened by the blurps and gurgles of the pond water, cascading over rocks and algae. Trees stood above us, watching us, letting their leaves drift into our laps, and caress our cheeks on their journey to the ground. Everything was perfect, only the smooth chalk-white stick between her fingers out of place. She pressed her lips to it many times, breathing in the poison as if it were her elixir, as if it were the only thing she ever needed in life. Her pale, thin lips shaped an o, spraying the smoke upon the world, suffocating the trees, replacing the harmless wind. That was her only flaw. She sat so happily, smiling, and singing of lollipops and chocolate bars. She sang my lullaby, my childhood, letting it float up to the sky, and resonate through the park. For so long I loved her, hearing her sing, listening to her stories, and watching her kill herself with every cigarette she pushed between her lips.

And Caitlin LEAPS into the 21st century!
So, in a fit to become more wordly (at least on the computer anyway), I have decided that my newfound blogging skills would best be put to use in subjects other than my creative writing class. It really will be nice to have a place where I can write about life. Sure, I can scribble stuff down on paper, but sadly I have a small attention span. And anyway, no one can read that stuff. Unless I post it on the internet, which is basically just a blog. Now you see my point. Hopefully my forgetfullness and scatter-brain won't get in the way of me keeping up with this thing. I've had accounts on three different forum sights, and never went back to any of them. It was just a hassle to keep up with everyone's posts, and if I let them sit there for awhile, then I wouldn't know what was going on. It's a vicious circle. With a blog, however, I can post at my own pace. I like having a solution.

Who Am I?
Hello! Welcome to my blog! This is all really new for me. I never expected to have a blog, and now all of a sudden BAM! Here it is floating out in cyber space. Truthfully, this is something that my creative writing teacher has asked us all to do. (My creative writing class that is)((duh!)) But it's kind of exciting for me. Yeah, thats a little dorky, but oh well.
Anyway, you should all know that I'm not exactly technilogcally inclined. I mean, i can type alright, fairly fast, nothing that would make a secretary swoon or anything. The point is, if I am planning on doing something that takes real effort on the internet, I have to call one of those "help" hotlines in India. It really took too much effort on my part to create this blog. (I get flustered easily.)
So, moving on to more relevant things (because I am pretty sure this blog entry is a grade), we will get down to get to knowing me. I know ya'll are just so excited about that. Well, first off, I love music. Listening to it, and playing it. I like to think I am good at it, but sometimes my ego gets a slap in the face every now and then. Like today, in band class, I had to play this really difficult part that I have been working on for like two weeks. It didn't turn out too well. But, that's what work is for. As my band director always say, PRACTICE MAKES PERFORMANCE. There is no perfection. No amount of practice could make perfection. (Sorry to bust ya'lls bubble!)
I also like to sing, which I think I'm fairly good at. I'm no Kelly Clarkson or anything, but I can carry a tune without making people's ears bleed. Which I think is a good quality to have, don't you?
